What Type Of Exercise Is Best?
You want to know what type of exercise is best? Well, I’ll
tell you. The best exercise is the one you actually do, and
that you do regularly... Because I don’t care what exercise you
think might be best, it won’t do a bit of good unless
you take real action. And actually DO it.
The best exercise is regular exercise. It’s far better for
you than busting a gut over-exercising one day, and then
feeling so tired or pained that you give up on any exercise for
the next few weeks or even months.
All exercise will burn off some calories; and using up
calories means you are burning fat from your body. That’s a
good thing, but the trick is to get enough exercise - not too
much - and to manage to do it regularly.
So you need an exercising schedule... an exercise plan.
It is best to have someone more knowledgeable than you give
you a hand in working out what type of exercise will be best
for you. For example, some people actually like jogging (though
they rarely have weight problems), while others prefer walking
or cycling. Many people find that jogging actually damages
their feet.
Some people are happy to walk fast or run on a treadmill at
the local gym or health club. It helps prevent you being bored
if you can listen to music on an mp3 player or Walkman, have a
friend beside who you can talk and complain to... Or just watch
a video if you’re using the treadmill at home.
Buying your own treadmill is no small investment, so you may
prefer to lease or hire one - at least until you are sure it’s
the way you want to get your daily or weekly workout
exercise.
Exercises that make you puff and pant are usually known as
aerobic exercise. They force your heart and lungs to pump more
oxygenated blood through your body, so you burn fat while
getting a good cardio-vascular workout at the same time. Of
course, if you are badly out of condition, just walking a few
steps can make you puff and pant as well. If that’s the case
with you, get some help. It’s too hard trying to do it all
alone. And do get a medical checkup before starting out with an
exercise plan. Just to be safe.
There are many actual types of exercise you can do, and for
weight loss and general health, aerobic exercises are the most
beneficial. However, your body will thank you if you do some
stretching exercises as well. These include stretching to touch
your toes, and twisting your torso from side to side. They
loosen the muscles so you can move more easily.
Muscle building exercises include sit ups (which strengthen
the tummy muscles and the back), push ups and chin ups (which
strengthen the arms, pectorals and shoulders). Most weight
lifting workouts are muscle building exercises, but they’ll
have you breathing heavily too!
Stretching exercise can be done as a warm-up exercise before
your main aerobic workout routine. It’s a good idea, because
you are far less likely to strain anything while working out
when your body is warmed up properly beforehand.
You should note that all pro sportsmen and women limber up
before getting out and doing what they’re paid to do. They know
to protect their bodies, no matter how fine-tuned they already
are. And that’s all the more reason that you should do warmup
and stretching exercises as well.
One thought, though... Should you workout alone or with a
group?
